2023
Apparition Composite This
apparition, which is finished as far as imaging is concerned was a difficult
one in which to capture very good
images: the combination of Jupiter at low elevation for where we live and
consistently bad weather (not to mention being very ill for half the year ☹ ) conspired against us.
Nonetheless a few acceptable images were
obtained in the following where the first, a collection of the better ones,
is shown. |

Although
the conditions were poor these small animations show some of Jupiter’s
Galilean Moons shuttling back & forth (due to the animations reversing
upon themselves btw) with the first animation showing an enlarged
view where Ganymede appears to be playing “hide & seek” as it moves
behind Jupiter. |

An
“inverted” image from one from a section of the animations above. |

A nice animated sequence in monochrome, a
single image from this animation as well as a colour image from this night and an “inverted” image as
well. Plenty of activity in the NEB & SEB
with detail seen well into the polar regions on this night. |

The “other” side

Here the GRS is
setting on the right, with Io to the left and Ganymede to the right. |

A short
animation, then a single image (both in monochrome) followed by a colour
image and finally another monochrome image from the night of January 5th.
Note the very dark spot on the border of the NEB & EZ and some very long
festoons in the EZ, particularly the very dark one. |
